1. Introduction
Graduate Program for Biomedical and Materials Science is an innovative program established in 2020 in September. The program aims to attract more international students by offering courses of broad range research from Biomedical to materials science. The principal investigators from the Department of Chemistry and Life Science will be responsible for guiding the international students towards their doctoral degree. As it mainly focusses on recruiting international students, few excellent domestic students can also be eligible to enroll. However, all the courses and media of instruction will be English to meet international standards. The program is authorized by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan and its ambition towards “Go South Policy.”
2. Teaching and Research Development Priorities
The teaching emphasizes on interdisciplinary learning, the integration of theory and application, and internationalization, with all courses conducted in English.
The research primarily centers around Biomedicine and Materials Science, covering a wide array of topics including to Biomedical Engineering, Biomaterials, Materials Science, and related subfields such as Biophysics, Tissue Engineering, Biomedical Nanoscience, Medicinal Chemistry, Cancer Treatment, Nanomaterials, Organic/Inorganic Materials, and Photonic Materials. This program aims to cultivate integrated high-tech talents with expertise in Biomedical Technology and Materials Science across various domains within the College of Science.
3. Prospects after Graduation
In recent years, due to the vigorous development of high-tech industries in our country, both Biomedical Science and Materials Science have emerged as key focal points for national advancement in technology. As a result, there is a growing demand for integrated high-tech talents with expertise in these relevant fields. Furthermore, our international degree program is conducted entirely in English, offering graduates access to broad job markets overseas. Foreign students may choose to stay in Taiwan for employment within our enterprises or return to their home countries for teaching or employment opportunities.
